Default Mode sel up not working

My buddy has a 10 flhx and he just threw apes on a few months back. He just recently noticed that the Mode sel up doesnt work. Down works fine, but he cant change stations or cd tracks in up direction. My guess is he might have broken that wire or it came loose at connector.
How would he check for continuity and which wire would that be in switch housing? Any advise would be appreciated. Hate to see him pull them wires back through bars.

Its one of three wires Grey/white, pink/white, violet/white. Get a volt meter and select the icon that looks like the volume icon. Open up your fairing and right housing and put a lead to each end of the wire contact

Had an issue when I changed bars on my Roady....
Volume would increase, but not decrease.
Turned out to be a pinched wire @ the switch housing.
