I made this from a old Lund SS grill insert.

Not sure, but I will look for something that flows a little more, but it will buy me more time.

This has been on my 10 Row Low for quite a while, even an old pic. Its more for looks than anything, honestly I don't think you will find a lot of horror stories involving damaged oil coolers from debris, they are way tougher than a typical automotive coolant radiator, especially the OEM HD type. Anyway this just a piece of stainless mesh about 50% open, still more open than the heat exchanger itself, slightly arched outward to give it a springboard effect so stuff can bounce off, stainless wire through the screen and the heat exchanger and twisted on the back, nothing too complex.

I bought a new truck in 88 and put screen over the radiator. Thought I was smart till I read an article and said screen is 70% closed and 30% open.just a thought

I had a 69 Chevell and had some cowl screen I was gonna put on but sold the car. It's black and really open pattern. That's what I used and it works great! Cowl screen.

Default Oil Cooler Protection

I know this is a dated thread, but thought someone could benefit from the added info. I live in Northeastern Ohio and the oil cooler on my 14 Road King takes a real beating from the dust and gravel kicked up by the front tire. I recently added a stainless mesh screen to the oil cooler cover for added protection. Cut to size and held in place with JB Weld epoxy.

Hey that looks like it will work well? I was the one who posted the original thread and to date, I never did do anything with my cooler.

Home depot has the small pattern stretched metal. Cost is cheap and could easily cut what you need from it.

Damn, I like that. The Who’s, what’s and where’s on the screen please.
