Default 2012 Road King Heat Management Issues

Having what i seem to be a problem with my heat management on this bike. While at a red light heat mangemenet kicked on,once it activates the engine starts pinging and the engine practically stalls. I run 93 octane fuel, Temp today was 48 F. only travel 5 miles before it kicked on....The bike is stock no mods as of yet. Even though i'm tempted to remove the cat.
any suggestions?

2012 is under warranty, no way the heat management system should be activating at 48 degrees, I would definitely talk to the dealer. Are you sure the EITMS is kicking in? You could turn it off and see if you have the same issues.

yes, it is activated. once i got home i deactivated the system, let it idle for a while and she is running fine. but once i activated the heat mangement let it idle for about 5 min it will kick on.. seem like it working like it should my only problem is it wants to cut the engine off and start to ping

Sounds like there is a problem, also, like I said, at 48 degrees you would have to idle forever to get that high a temp to kick it in, I doubt it would go that high unless you had zero air flow.

I have a 2011 RKC with over 10,000 miles on it a lot them in the hot summer days and I think it has only kicked in once while in slow traffic. It sounds like frog is on to it, some kind of air flow prob. It takes my bike more than 5 miles to warm up.

My bike was doing some weird things like that turned out to be a loose wire connection on the o2 sensor.

Ambient temp doesn't really have that great of an effect on ETs. 48F aint really that cold either, the motor will reach EITMs temp in short order. If you feel like something isn't right then you should investigate.

If you are referring to the rear cylinder shutting down, it has happened to me only once. Temperature was 105 degrees last summer and I was stuck in traffic.
