No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the swirls out of my previous Vivid Black Road King. I tried everything, you name it. These weren't deep either. Very fine.
I now have a 2012 Denim SG and it is so much easier to maintain. Just do what everyone said to do on the other posts and you will be fine.
I have 1800 miles on my 12 sg with denim paint. the only issue I am haveing is trying to find a denim black vega helmet so I can trade for the recall. Plenty of the vivid.
some of y'all make it sound like the denim paint is as delicate as fine china. i've had mine for over 3 years, and it's still in great shape. sure, i've got a few little scratches from road debris, buy you'll get that on any bike. other than that, no issues.
i like it, it is so much easier to take care of than regular paint.
You do want to use Windex with Ammonia. As the man said the older manual states to use it. Harley even released a TSB to tell people to use Windex with ammonia. This was all before HD even made denim paint cleaner. I have also used Wizards matte black cleaner. I never washed my Fatboy Lo. Windex is the only bath it got, and that included a 1500 mile round trip to and from Daytona. Bike looked new when traded with 15,000 miles.
I have a Denim Dyna Street Bob and a Vivid Black Street Glide. I love the denim color. I would not however, want that color on a bike I am going to put a lot of miles on. When the denim scratches, there is no coming back. It is also extremely difficult to match the factory denim black. Just my .02
