Angry What is the pupose of the search bar???

I have been searching for pics or videos of how to install apes on a ultra classic for a week and it doesnt find sh--. I know their all over this site because ive seen several when i first started thinking about changing my bars. I saw a really good write up with step by step pics of a 2000 electriglide ape install but cant even find that. Does the search bar even work or does anyone know the secret to using it?

I use it, but in "advanced" search where I'll target specific forum sections & key words. Yes, it's a pain & you will get flack from other members who throw the search feature back @ you. Sometimes it's easier to get the "flack" because, even w/the complainers, there's always one white knight in the crowd who posts what you need. Cheers!

Yes the "advanced" works much better. If it's a video you are looking for I have better luck using google and most of the time end up on youtube. Go to google and search videos at the top sometimes under the "more" category. Alternatively you use google to search within any specific website by typing site:www.sitename.com and typing the words you want.

Example:

site:www.hdforums.com install apes ultra classic

When you find it make a file under favorites called Harley and save it there.

I'm with ya, on this one! Ask a question, and somebody has to say "use search", but I dare them to find what you're looking for on it! Just ask your question, and maybe somebody will tell you just which threads you're looking for!

The biggest issue with a search is making it to broad. The more specific, using the advanced features, the better the results.

Even the "My Recent Topics" built in search doesn't even work right most of the time.

Not sure if it was mine you're talking about, but here's a link to the write up I did:

Try to put as few key words or phrases in for searches keep as simple as possible, don't put a entire sentence or a specific title unless you already know of a OP with that title. Search is looking for a specific word or a spelling so that has to be correct as well, some won't recognize handle bar for handlebar.
