If you can't afford paint, be sure to cover the decal with at least 2 coats of clear.
Airbrushed & clear coated.

harley tank graphics are decals - what's wrong with that? agree that they should be clear coated and sanded flat afterwards

Vinyl decals are a good, inexpensive way to try different looks before getting the best one you like painted on if paint is how you feel you should go. My vinyl guy will charge about $20 for a tank logo, if I don't like it, I just heat it with a hair dryer, peel it off, try another one. Lot cheaper to change vinyl than paint!

My Orange blossom special is a decal, and I like it
One day I might peel it off and have it painted, not sure, but I don't think it looks bad....... Maybe I'm just a sucker for sticker bikes

Good decals and a clear coat could look very nice. Do you have any pictures of what it is you are looking at getting?
