Default It happened to me....

On Monday I was heading home from work, in the pouring rain, and I came to an uphill stop sign and my idle started climbing....and climbing....and climbing. I shut it off. Wouldn't restart. With help from the local LEOs it was pushed to a quiet spot to wait for wife. While waiting I decided that there wasn't fuel getting to the combustion chambers. I pulled the air cleaner and disconnected the TPS. It started right up. Ran interestingly, but it ran. Rode it home and took it to the hospital the next day. They diagnosed it exactly as I thought...TPS dead. Will be fixed under extended warranty!

The real problem is the fact that I nearly cried leaving it at the dealer. I ride every day. Now I am forced into my truck....which I like...but, it isn't the bike. Can't say I ever had that feeling before. Very weird! Should have her back tomorrow. Just the icing on a rough week...mother-in-law in ICU, wife gonna have surgery (gallbladder), daughter and son-in-law here for a couple of days, and work, of course. What a week!!!

Sorry to hear that...but the UP side, bike will be fixed, you are working, you get to visit with your daughter, and you have forum folks who will say a prayer for your wife and mother in law....it all works out! Ride safe!!

Very well put. I hope we can all learn how to keep things in perspective. Alii, I feel your pain, and she will be back soon. Good job diagnosing yourself too.

Look at the bright side. When you get it back you can ride, or you could be here watching the snow falling thinking maybe in 6 weeks I can ride

Default the follow up

bike is fixed and back home....it was the TPS just like I thought. The mechanic seemed to be surprised that I knew to disconnect the TPS so i could ride it home....smart me, I guess.
Mother-in-law coming home tomorrow.
Daughter is good....and seeing her is always good.

Yep, you guys are right.....I got no SNOW!!!!!! Yippee....after 5.5 years in the great white north (North Dakota), I developed a deep seeded hatred for the white crap!

Thanks for your concern & prayers.

Northern Nevada is as close to arctic weather as I've ever lived and as close as I will ever live God willing. I hate snow too and this winter has seen over a month of snow on the ground and temps below 20*.

Glad the bike will be home for you soon.

cheers

I was going to make a smart *** remark about your separation anxiety, But them I took another sip of coffee and realized being surrounded by 30" of snow that I know what your going though. But at least you'll be riding soon.

buy another TPS and put it in the tool box for next time. 15-30 minutes to change.
