Not had a problem with mine yet(06 SEUltra, playing self cut CD of MP3 tracks), but have heard of issues, particularlywith skipping, when playing std audio CDs.

Would everyone agree that these new Harmon Karman sytem's are "hand's down" a better unit then Harley's system from Radio Sound (older system)? I ask because I'm just beginning a build of a '07 Street Glide and I have a Sony MEX-1GP with a Bikertronic's RetoKit I think I'm going to install and throw my H.K. on E-Bay. Unless this unit is far superior then the previous unit's which I've alway had nothiong but trouble with. Thx in advance for your input. Rich A

 

I've had nothing but problems with my hk radio since i bought my 06flhx. when playing standard music cd's, constant skipping. MP3's play perfectly. Finally took it to dealer late fall and they replaced under warranty. I think many have experienced the same problem.

 

About 7 months after I bought my 06flhtci,
the stereo system locked up, none of the controls worked. shut bike off restarted every thing was fine. did it a couple times up at sturgis.
But the real problem was skipping. sitting still koeo it would skip so bad you couldn't play it.
Dealer tried a new software d/l to recalibrate no luck.
Another dealer said HD was having some problems with the new radio. Ordered a reconditioned one. Should see it next month sometime.

 

I had a cd stuck in mine and they replaced it under warranty. Now a few times I started it up and the screen has wierd numbers on it and if I can change the station but it displays the same numbers. Turning the radio off and on clears it though.

 

I had an 04 eglide classic. had the same problem twice with that bike, replaced the unitsboth times. have an 05 ultra now and am noticing problems with the cd too. of course, whenever i show this to the shop the dang thing works just great. they smile and i feel like a da... fool. i am going to buy a 2 gig mp3 and use that.

see just another example of the sh**y engineering coming out of harley

1. air temps don't work right
2. cd players
3. noisy lifters / valve train
4. noisy 6th gears
5. sumping problems

what else? but yet they expect us to be happy loyal repeat customers.
Then they (upper management) expect the factory rank and file to give up benefits etc.
Don't think I would want a 07 or 08 after the strike.
