I dont think much will match up... the end of the crankshaft is different for the 96 because of the different compensator and primary gearing. I dont know how good of a deal youre getting, but my guess is that it wont be worth all the trouble. A stock 88 to a stock 96 is hardly an improvement to write home about anyway. Id bet you could do a 95" bb kit cheaper/easier and get more power out of it.

Just my .02

Thanks Frankenbagger but I know the heads will work and possibly the cylinders, what I'm more concerned with is the cam support, oil pump, changing the tensioners to late models, lifters and blocks, not interested in bigger just newer (possibly better) miscellaneous parts.

Use the heads. Cam plate has different size bearings, so you'll have to use the cams that are in it or cams of your choice for '07 and up. There should be a way to make that work.

Like I told you in the other thread not much will fit into your cases and the 2010 cases are different from yours. Not sure what you did not understand what I posted in your other tread? Even if you buy another transmission you still will have to have another primary and at least a different compensating sprocket minim. Is id the complete motor with cases? Not trying to get in your busyness but good chance you would come out better and cheaper building what you have unless you are getting it DIRT-cheap. I have been riding and working on Harley s none stop for well over 40 years much of the time as a living.

My 02 Ultra has 92k on it and I just installed a HD sidecar 4k miles ago and it runs fine.

Not sure what kind of deal you are getting but you can make the camplate work with the new hydraulic tensioners on your 2004. To do it you will have to buy a set of conversion cams that fit the newer cam plate but still have the smaller inner dimension to fit the older B148 inner bearings.
If you have 70,000 miles on your bike without problems I'm not sure why you want to make this swap.
Also, unless you are planning to go bigger, I doubt you will feel any significant difference switching out the heads. But your wallet will feel it.

Only problem with the conversion cams is you are limited to what cams you can run. Yes the heads will work the cylinders will work but with out a 4 3/8 crank the pistons will not. With out the bigger stroke crank you will still have 88 inches as the 96 is the same bore as the 88.
