Default radio fuse keeps blowing, any help where to look ?

the bike is a 2007 electraglide classic. The radio fuse keeps blowing, sometimes it will hold for a little while but mostly blows rite away after starting bike, i have changed out the speakers a couple years ago, i looked around under the fairing a few time and cant find anything looking like a short.

Could it be inside the radio? any one have the radio go bad and blow the fuse ?
i want to put the J&M amp and lower speakers but i got to fix this first. Thank`s Will

look for insulation rubbed through on a power wire to the radio.

IF the fuse is black inside like something exploded- that indicates a short circuit

if the fuse material looks like it just sagged and parted, that indicates an circuit overload- like might happen if someone used the radio circuit to run extra lights, for example

Have you washed the bike recently or got caught in a rain storm? I would start by opening up the fairing and looking around for chaffed wires, moisture at the plug etc

Fuses are the week link in system. Has to be a wire shorting to ground somwhere.

I had that happen on the 07 street glide I had. My problem was loose battery cable.

Check for a ground. If you have a voltmeter, set it to ohms. Take one end of the meter and touch one end of the wire and the the other end of the meter to the frame. If you get a zero reading, you have a ground in that wire

have seen it inside the radio as well---------------Had a friend cut the wire and put a push connect to plug it back in with to check for chafed wires. After a couple of weeks he took the radio out and took it to a tech friend and found it had a piece of solder rolling around inside it

Had the same problem. My issue was simpler than I would have ever thought. Long story short, change the fuse, make certain the battery is "fully charged". Should solve the problem. If not, no harm no foul....
