Default saddlebag guard removal

I'm looking into removing the stock guards on my saddlebags to clean up the back end and was wondering who else has done this mod. I've checked into the carlini conversion as well as the hd version and it seems the HD version is a bit cheaper. I'm probably going to powdercoat some parts to match the sunglo blue bike since I have a local powdercoater who does a spectacular job. He's already done some parts on my dad's v-rod and he's got some nice custom bikes he's already built.. Heres a link in case anyone needs it www.brewracingframes.com

Thanks for the info

Scott

I removed the all the chrome around the saddlebags and the guards and replaced them with the saddlebag support you see on Road Glide, RK Custom, and Street Glide. The replacement from HD was about $100 and I sold what I removed on eBay for a good bit more than that.

Some folks prefer to have a saddlebag guard rail (like the EG Standard) or the comfort profile guards in the P&A catalog. Either of these allow the removal of the two guard rails on each bike and clean up the rear of the bike.

You could also simply remove the two guard rails on each side of the bikeand retain your OEM guard rails with the holes filled with some chrome hardware.

I tried that and found that I really prefered the look with the rails on - to each their own right?

That's one of the first things I thought of when I got my RK Classic. I liked the bag mounts off the Custom better. So I bought those and will be installing them on Sat.if anyone wants the old bag supports in like new condition pm me an offer and let me know.

I replaced the guards that came on my Road King Classic with those like the Street Glide. I like the cleaner look.

Hey Scott, If you want to sell your take-offs let me know what you want for them. I am thinking of adding them to my Streetglide. PM me if interested.
