Lok Tite, yea, maybe should have explained it a bit more like you did.

The process of undoing it, even to switch to a single seat @ home takes time.

Just thought, that maybe someone had made up a quick disconnect even for detailing reason to get under the seat without pulling wrenches, realigning.

I took mine off of my '07 and chucked it on the trash pile. She liked the scoot with it but never noticed it was gone.

I got to thinking about it today and went out to the garage. Folded the strap ends under the seat, drilled 1/8" holes through the plastic in the seat where the holes in the metal strap tabs were, then ran 3/4" long lag screws through the tabs into the plastic. The lags are way short of coming through the other side and the heads are nowhere near making contact underneath anywhere when the seat is mounted. I don't recommend this approach if your passenger uses the strap to hold on, because although it feels solid it may loosen up from constant pulling, but in my case I need it for looks and to attach my gym bag to.

BUT

On a RK Classic BOTH ends of the strap are riveted to the mounting bracket on the hard bag mount. In order to take the seat off you have remove the strap bracket from the bag bracket and thread it thru the cuts in the seat before you can take the seat off.

Kinda a PITA
Can you install the chrome brackets from an FLHR on your bike?

Naw, the brackets are completely different and come in at a different angle. The RKC seat weaves the strap though the seatcover. I got mine squared away though, I replaced one side with a dowel/cotter pin. It's as secure as it was stock.
