Default Anyone running a Baker 7 speed and if so do you like ??

Thinking about maybe adding a baker seven speed to my limited back in Boston, read the review and sounds like a real well made and thought out transmision. Any one running it and if so what are your thoughts likes and dislikes.

I could see one for my old softtail, but dont need one for the new 13 UC unless you plan on setting the cruise @ about 90-100 mph...

The thing about that many gears people don't understand is, it's not just adding another OD gear. It just spreads the pull through closer ratio gears. It makes it seem as though the engine is more powerful because you can stay in the peak of the torque curve. Only drawback is more shifting.... well, it's only a drawback if you don't switching through the gears and hammerin' on the gas.

One thing to be clear on it the Baker DD7 does not have an overdrive. The stock 6 speed is also not an overdrive transmission. Both stock 6 speed and Baker 7th are both 1:1. Like it was said that the great ratios are optimized for smoothness and power.

If I had the coin I'd do it!

the baker has a considerable lower 1-3 that way your not idling in first at 12 mph.a cheeper option would be to lower either the final drive or primary gearing.

The only time I use sixth gear is when I go over 75 or Im in 5th most of the time. How fast do you drive that you need one more gear?
