I would like to hear the new Hogtunes setup. I had their set up front and rear with the amp that I bought in 07. It was ok and sounded better than stock but it always left me wishing the sound was a little better for the money. If the new stuff is much better I would consider it as I'm not in the market for a thousand dollar setup. Just want good tunes rolling down the road.

Stay tuned!!!

After sooooo much research I found what I think is going to be a quality setup (thanks everyone for answering all the questions).

Polk audio MM651. $125
Soundstream PN4.520D $139
Speaker adapters 30
Amp wiring kit $20

Everything should be in next week so once it is in I will report back.

I got my Hogtunes from Biketronics in '06. I upgraded from zero speakers and was an excellent improvement! In December I noticed my left speaker was blown and called biketronics for a warranty replacement. I ended up getting the Titan II's a really great price for replacing my apeakers. These Titan's sound so much better and clearer at higher volume. I can hear music clear and loud at 80mph with a fullface/ear plugs without turning the stereo up all of the way. I also have an alpine head unit (iDA-X305S) and Hogtunes speaker pods. A co worker has Boom's w/amp all around and I wasn't impressed. I honestly do think you would be happy upgrading to the Hogtunes (newer model than mine) from stock. But remember there is always something better.

My bike has the hk amp, I think it's 150 Watts. I have only front speakers right now, hog tunes hybrid magnet 2 ohm speakers. The sound is an incredible improvement over the stock speakers. They are less than 100 bucks on eBay, and for the money, I'm Very satisfied!

Bottom line for me is how much do you want to spend? I can't justify spending more than the $220 I spent on 4 Hog Tunes speakers shipped to my door. I installed the speakers, noticably better audio, maybe not as much as those with the amps but i chose not to pay that much for my upgrade. I am satisfied with my 5 year old Hog Tunes in my '03 Classic and the Hog Tunes i just put in my '13 Limited. At some po8int I may decide to spend wore and will simply buy the Hog Tunes amp for the speakers I already have installed.

You know, you can always do better. There's no such thing as a perfect set up. What's perfect for some is medicore for others. Get a stereo, connect your damn ipod and ride. All these damn extras are taking away from the pure fundamental which is riding. Personally, I hate when I pull up next to someone on a bike and his system is so loud that it becomes a nusance.

Sorry to hijack this thread!

I agree. However..
I can tell you that probably 75 - 80% of the time I ride, the radio is off. It's that every once in a while ride where I want to hear some good music and I want it to sound good in addition.

So do you feel the same way about chrome? That sure doesn't coincide with the fundamentals of riding either. :-)

I don't want to be hypocritcal. I recently ordered some hogtunes tweeters but no matter how much you put into a bike, it' not going to sound like your home stereo or car stereo. I apolgize if I came across as preachy.

I love chrome but I prefer to ride over spending hours polishing my bike. I tease my neighbor all of the time. We both bough our bikes around the same time. I picked my bike up on July 3rd. I now have 4,800 miles on it. He has less than 2K miles on his. His bike is always in the shop because he's adding something new to it. Since July, he's had 2 stereo's on it. On our way to bike night he got pulled over and got a $25 citation for having his stereo to loud. That's something that we all must consider--while it's nice to have a good sounding bike, in most areas, you'll get fined for a noise violation.
