AMSOIL 20W50 in both the crankcase and tranny is my advice, the 75W90 tranny oil is actually equivalent to 20W50 engine oil. In the primary I simply like Type "F" transmission fluid, synthetic oil just is too slick for the clutch plates.
You'll not be disappointed using this set up!

These oil threads are like skinning cats, lots of ways to do, but the cat still gets skint. Pardon me Peta's. They all work, if someone has a big failure because of oil, you's hear about it.

My truck has synthetic oil in its transfer case and in both differentials. The manual says the original oil will last the life of the vehicle which is 10 years already. So far so good, but these 3 gearboxes are not vented while the Harley's tranny is
What comes out of the tranny when we smell oil fumes? Is it only a fraction of the oil ingredients that could alter the recipe/formula or is it a small amount of the total mix of ingredients? I think its a conservative approach to replace the oil to make sure we always have all ingredients in there. One could envisage that volatile elements could carry dissolved additives as they escape through the vent ... There isn't much literature on this topic.
'05 RG, 95", S.E. 6 speed, Syn 3 in all three holes since new, 82,000 miles and going strong.
No problems, changed the cam followers at 42,000 miles, just because we opened it up to check them.
Is anyone running maxima oil products in their bikes? They make a primary oil, 75-90 fot the trans...I am thinking of the 15w-50 for the motor. any first hand experience?
i was using mobil 1 vtwin 20w-50 in all three holes, but ive been noticing my transmission shifting is getting louder. i just ordered redline trans shockproof to hope that it will help.
