MGS True Dual Install - Pics and Video
#41
Just had to jump in and say how pleased I am with the MGS system. I pulled the trigger three weeks ago on the Stage One special they've been running, got it installed and dyno'd on my Ultra Limited just in time to make a run to bike week this past weekend.
Seat of the pants impression, the bike is much more responsive and seems almost eager to run. The system sounds incredible, as others have posted it has a nice low rumble at idle, quiet enough at speed to hear your tunes through the fairing speakers but has a really nice 'growl' when you get on the throttle. Gas mileage took a little hit, down about 3mpg with normal everyday riding and a bit more running at freeway speeds (+80mph).
Dyno numbers: 85.99hp at ~5k rpm and 105.15 lb/ft at ~3k rpm. This is on a 2012 Ultra Limited, the only mods are the "Stage One" package currently offered at a steal of a price from MGS.
One minor issue I need to get with them on, the 'tabs' for the clamps on the rear cylinder heat shield broke loose near the top of the pipe on the ride down to FL.

what type of vibration? sound or feel? check the pipe clamp on the bracket that's attached to the starter for tightness...also check the other pipe clamp at the tranny

MGS rents the Wide Band Tune kit for PV.
Thanks to the OP for the pic and write up.
I had some small glitches in my install, MGS helped me with those.
On touring bikes with the platform passenger boards, you need a PINGEL spacer on the left rear - ( Pingel is not in the MGS kit, but they will sell ya one for $40.00) I feel that MGS should have known I would have needed that when I told them what my bike was when I order it over the phone.... and I could have paid the extra and had it shipped at the same time, this would have been ideal.
Post install PV map. FM did not have a TD map to send me with TW222 cams. I e-mailed to Dyno-Jet and did two tune runs, ( the map was based on Mid-Grade fuel, but it had the TW222 cams). I did not think the narrow band was getting all the values that wide band could get, so I opted for a dyno tune, rather than going the WB rent route. Figured the dyno tune would get 'er done better than WB tune runs.
Done messing with the bike, just riding it. I have the LOUD baffles btw, .... they bark.

Yeah, I was very unimpressed with the directions. Really quite useless. I also felt the hardware was incomplete. Passenger floorboard spacer w/o supplying a longer bolt to make it work? Rider floorboard spacer for only one of the two right side brackets? FWIW, I got a floorboard extender kit from VTwinGoodies so I could space them evenly and do the other side so they are symmetrical. The shorter of the front stock bolts was long enough to use on the rear passenger peg with spacer. Now I'm just wishing I had another rear spacer so I could space out the right rear floorboard too.
