Regarding Fuel Moto, is that a website that offers various parts or is it a brand? (Thanks for clearing that up for me!)

When I was looking for a tuner in the Charlotte area I sent a note to Doc's in Florida who is one of the top tuners in the country. He recommended to me Mark Harrington at Ben's V-Twins. Mark worked for Doc for several years.

Ben's is on highway 74 east of Charlotte, towards Indian Trail.

Have they done any additional work for you? Since my bike is a 2012, I'm on the fence with letting anyone outside of the dealer touch my bike. But that means paying the dealers extreme prices.

I would find a good tuner in your area and purchase the tuner they like best and have it professionally tuned , canned maps are just that canned maps and do not work for everyone or give you the best performance you can get , everyone always says buy a tuner and map from Jaimie and you will be happy , if you took your bike to him do you think that is what he'd do , install a tuner with a canned map and send you on your way ??? No , he'd start with a canned map for close to what you have and then dial it in. So if you are going to have it professionally done find the best tuner in your area and then buy what he likes to tune on.

Nope. But then, nobody has because it's not needed anything. Runs great.

Default Tuner in NC

I have been using Tilleys in Salisbury for about 14 years now for everything on my bike. From service to just help and advice to my dyno tunes. They have been without question the best around for me. I live 3 miles from Charlotte HD and I wouldn't spend a dime in there. I am closer to Pat Rogers than Tilleys but still prefer Tilleys. They have performed all of my services on the two bikes I have owned in the last 14 years and everyone I have recommended to them has come away completely satisfied. They can handle anything from high performance engine mods to adding a chrome add on. The mechanical advice is free and comes from guys who enjoy what they do and show it. I would recommend them highly.

That would be my first choice...if he worked with Doc, then he's one of the best. You may pay a little more to go with a quality tuner and a dyno....but with the right guy, it will be spot on and it will be reflashed in the ECM for life. Not only will you feel the extra horsepower, but it will just cruise much better through all the gears.

Just do it!

Give Jamie a call at Fuel Moto. He will be glad to discuss many options that will have you up and running. You must remember that the HD guys are scared to death of companies such as FM and other reputable aftermarket tuning specialists. Why, because they don't want owners to have control of their tune.
Yesterday I was told this exact same thing and it came from a Harley tech. He did not appear to have any grief with the dealership that signs his checks, just seemed to be honest.[/quote]

Funny, after years of getting "don't do this do that" questionable advice from guys behind counters ad HD dealerships in the last 24 hours I have both read your experience and had one of my own.
I was at Ray Price HD yesterday and told him exactly what I did and what I was considering. Recently changed cams, went with TW-222, and I'm interested in getting a dyno to compare my numbers with my configuration to the guys who have had the same cams installed by Fuel Moto. The map from Fuel Moto seems to be as nice as it gets, it runs better than the bike did in its factory configuration before I changed exhuast, A/C, etc.
Bottom line, I told him all of this and that I was interested in getting a graph and some numbers for myself, to share with FM and to share with the guys here on HDForums who are interested in dyno graphs with aftermarket cams and various configurations. I told him if we see room for improvement maybe I'll spend some extra money and have them do a custom map, put it on my Power Vision, flash it to the ECM and see how it runs.
He was completely straight faced and said, "maybe what you're running is what it needs and we won't need to do a custom tune".
I'll give him credit for that. I was bracing myself for the inevitable: "use a SERT instead, leave the bike with us for a whole day and nothing will touch our tune, you've done it all wrong up to this point and we'll fix it all for $1000".
Not so. I'd recommend Ray Price's service in that regard, but like all else in life, you won't be hurting yourself as you're doing here by doing your homework first.

I agree with Neckball

I'm not a fan of Fuel Moto or Power Commanders, I know better than to fall for all that hype, but as you see there are a lot of people who have had success with them.

Give Doc a call, he trains most of the people who tune using the TTS. Get the latest info from him. Or better yet, take a ride down to FL and have him do it.
