What's a good chrome starter for 09 road king classic?
Should I stick to oem
Or go after market

in my opinion, there are no good chrome starters. it seems the chrome holds the heat in and they all fail really early into their life. I've heard of some who have said theirs has lasted, but I've put a number of them in for customers, all types...spike, chrome aftermarket, and even the factory starter, (which is a bundle!!) all failed prematurely. replace with the painted one and all was well. they don't look good sitting there, but at least they don't strand ya. good luck! I guess to answer your question, the factory chrome starter lasted the longest

I put a HD 1.4k chrome starter on my 09 RKC when it was new. That was 40K miles ago. It works fine. I also had one on my 05 and no problem with that one either after over 50K miles. Chrome or not, I'd stick with HD or you can check out All ***** racing.

I believe the starters for the 110 CVO motors are heavier duty.
That's what I used on my last bike when I did the Stage IV kit on it.

I went to all ballz when i built the last motor in my '90 (HD one was toast). About 30k and shes still going strong. My dad has a spyke that has outlasted a couple motors already, they are proud of those starters though.
