Default The Progressive 944 Are On :)

Install was a breeze, obviously quite easy! Can't wait to take my Saturday morning 50-mile ride for starbucks coffee, and breakfast

So I'm now chomping at the bit to upgrade my rear end shocks. I've been following the threads to see some results of the 944's in particular. Hope you'll post a nice little review once you get some riding in. Sounds like the install was a piece of cake? Assuming that included removing the old air shocks/tubing/valves? One question I have is how easy/difficult is it to adjust the pre-load. I ride 75% solo, but I know from experience that other 25% can be a killer so I suspect I'd want to adjust the preload and I'm curious how much work/effort that is.

Congrats . . . looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

SoCalMike,

The pre-load adjustment turns quite easy. The shocks come from the factory pre-loaded at the lowest setting, and by turning the pre-load adjuster clockwise, or counterclockwise it adjusts the stiffness or less stiffness.

I think I have my ride sag set pretty good, I'll know better tomorrow, once I leave the house, since I have to drive 1 1/2 mile down a dirt road driveway before I get on the pavement

I'll report back my thought about the upgrade.

The factory shocks came off very easy, as well as the air valve & lines.

Hey, what exact model number did you get? They have a 13" Low that's supposed to settle when sitting to about the 12" size. I chatted with a Progressive rep and he said you end up with close to 3" total, but you get something like ~2" down, and ~1" up and that's how they claim 3" total travel. Again, based on a 5 minute chat with a rep online.

X2, I've had them but surgery and snow have kept me to a few hundred miles, some twisties, city and a 30 mile trip superslab in less than 20 minutes. My limited feed back is the best shock I have used on any bike I ride. I have to say that a Race tech or Ohilins is what it would take, but so far this is as good as I think I require in a shock, but time will tell, and I also want to hear feedback! Especially when it uses different valve stacks and it is plush and suddenly U feel every ripple if U are leaned over and hit a fairly small hole or irregularity in the road. I have noticed this or something that is different and maybe an advantage.?...

944-4002UT for the lighter spring
944-4020UT for the standard spring and these are avail much easier than the above set that just are becoming available

I have the 940's on my '09 Ultra, better than the stock OEM air shocks. I still bottom out here and there, so I will be anxious to hear your review on the 944's as well.

Looking forward to hearing how they work out. I want to hear how they feel riding solo, and if you don't mind how much do you weigh. Thanks.

GPHDXLC,

I ride solo 100% of the time, and am 6'04 245lbs. I'll spend sometime riding tomorrow, and will post my personal feelings, findings, and what I think about them compared to the stock ones I just took off!

Ready to pull the trigger on the Progressive 444-4020. I ride two up about 70 percent of the time so the 4020 with the heavy duty springs are needed. Very interested to hear your review.
