Default Road King Or Glide

Hi New to this forum. Looking for advice. I am going to upgrade my 1200 sportster for something more comfortable.
My local dealer doesnt have a Glide to test but tells me the saddles on the Road King and Glides are the same. yet in the bochures they are different.
Can I have some views on the comfort of the standard seats before I travel 370 miles to the nearest dealer that has both.

Thank You

I think by overall concensous on this site, that basically all standard seat are garbage and most people purchase a different seat.

But to answer your question there is quite a bit of defference between a stock Road King, Street Glide and Ultra seats.

Hated mt 06 road king seat and replace with mustang. Added a RGU this year and so far I like the seat, no plans to change it.

I went thru this same question with myself in March of 2012. I chose a SG for two reasons: I didn't like all the chrome doo-dads and other clutter on the other touring bikes and I wanted a radio. I ride an '07 FLHX and wifey didn't like the stock seat so I picked up a HD Classic seat and I'm having it re-worked to fit my bike. I personally don't have the loot to blow on a $500 seat that I may or may no like so the stock seat(s) do me just fine.

I think the seat is no reason to pick one over the other. I bought a new RK in 2003 then added an aftermarket fairing for wind protection and for a an am/fm radio cd player because I was riding to Sturgis from NY. Now I have a Street Glide, the stock seat is ok but for anything over 300 miles a day theres nothing like a Russell Day Long Saddle.

Some people like them, some don't. My FLHX stock seat is comfy but not overly so. After about 50 miles or so you should know if it meets your comfort level. Had to put a Mustang on my FLSTF because I hated it and it was like night and day.

No matter what you read on here, you won't know until you sit on them in person.
Basicly all frames are the same on the Touring bikes.
Shocks may differ between modles
Tire/Rim size may differ between modles
Handlebars may differ between modles
Seats will differ between modles

Take the time to go to a dealer that has all of the models in stock and ride them!!! Even though the Touring Line bikes all use the same frames and forks there are so many subtle differences in the fit and ride and handling due to seats, windshield, no shield, batwing or fixed fairing, handlebars etc . You need to try them out to make an informed decision.

Ride them all. Maybe rent one for the day once you narrow it down. They all feel different even though they all seem the same. Its a lot to invest. Make sure you are 100% satisfied. Good luck!!

I personally love my new road king..... Had an evo heritage for a few years, and man o man, the new road kings ride like a dream!!!!!!! But I've never even sat on a SG.

I thoroughly hated the stock seat tho. It killed my but after 80 miles. I had a gel pad put in it, and could then ride for days with no problems.
