I have a small paper clip that I use. I clipped one end on a steep angle with some wire cutters, and filed it to a nice point. It slides right under the tabs to release the pins.

Sometimes, it helps to push the pin further in, to relieve pressure on the tabs, and then slip the paper clip under. Also, sometimes a second set of hands to pull the wire helps.

Paperclip. If it hurts your fingers then clamp some Vise-Grips onto the paperclip.

I am, and I'm not.

Most times, I don't really think about it until I need it. Then, the last thing I want to do is wait for an eBay seller to send me a tool.

Improvise, and move along!

Sounds like lack of planning. For 10 bucks the tool made the job quick and easy. I was surprised how easy those molex connectors actually were after hearing all the complaints on this forum.

Dont screw around trying to make one, I bought one on ebay for $14 that would have saved me a lot of time when I changed bars:

I had the proper tool.... Lost it or lent it out. I've used a dental pick the last couple times I've needed it. Works like a charm.
