Gerbing heated gear question
#11
If you want this winter better stop "researching" and order soon. Some of the jacket liner sizes are backed up for months. Spoke to a manager 2 weeks ago to check on my order from early November and he told me it would be another month. He said there were some people that have been waiting since October. I think they are "under new management" and may be in a little chaos at the moment.
After reading all the awesome reviews I guess I will just wait. My winter in TX will be pretty much over though.

The Gerbings jacket liner is wired for 2 separate circuits. Using a dual controller, 1 circuit will be for the jacket and the other for the gloves. I would recommend getting a controller mount of some sort. The one that Captain Itch makes is as nice as they get! Having the controller in front of you within a fingers grasp is a million times better than fumbling for it on a belt! The controller plugs into the bike (for power) and has the cables to run up to the heated wear. Single controller, 1 wire - Dual controller, 2 wires.
I looked on Captain Itch's website and did not see a controller holder. What are you referring to? I might be interested...sorry for the hijack
To the OP,
I have the jacket and gloves. If you plan to only purchase a jacket you can get by with the single controller. If you decide to go with gloves and later maybe pants and insole you will need the dual controller. I love my setup- can ride down to 20deg F. Could go lower just hasn't gotten that cold yet without the snow and salt. They do have a dual controller that you can mount to the bike- I opted for the controller that stays on you. Hope this helps.

I got mine here too. They are on backorder. Tracy told me it will be at least a month. I ordered the jacket liner and gloves to start after reading all the info on this site. I also got the dual controller if I decide to expand to the pants later. Good luck tracking them down.

Never saw a wireless controller, where did you get that???
To the OP: I think your question has been answered, but to reiterate; the wiring in the jacket liner will handle the gloves, no need to use the wires that came with gloves unless you decide to use them without the jacket liner. The jacket liner will also connect to the pants liner.
My best advice: no matter what heated gear you purchase spend the extra money the first time and buy the dual controller. Eventually you will want to add another item and having the dual controller really helps.
I have the jacket and pants liners, and gloves. One control **** adjusts the jacket and pants, the other the gloves. I have never had an instance where they where not adjusted completely differently from one another, and never had them turned all the way up.

My first experience with Gerbing involved the gloves with the straight connectors. I got repeated small burns on two different knuckles. Gerbing couldn't have any more helpful, wonderful customer service. The replacement gloves with the 90 degree plugs are wonderful. They earned my repeat business. I too would recommend the dual controller. Even if you need only one connection, you always have a "spare controller" to get you home.
