Thanks guys. Kinda thought I might have just got a "first on Monday/last on Friday" set. It happens with any manufactured part. My local dealer ordered me a new set so I will see how these are. Hopefully they are good because I really like the look and feel of these grips.

My PM story:

Bought my 2010 SG about a month after my Night Train was stolen. SG had 2500 mi on it and a set of PM Heathen rims and matching rotors in front. After about 2 months, I noticed a vibration under front braking. At first I thought it was the ABS activating improperly but the problem got progressively worse. Finally took the bike in for service and they confirmed that the rotors are indeed VERY warped.

What's interesting is that it took a couple of months for this to appear. When I picked the bike up from the (private) seller, there was NO vibration at all. And I babied the thing. Did not ride/brake hard.

So I contacted PM and honestly described the situation. I told them that I was the second owner and I was fairly certain that they were gonna tell me to go f myself. Surprisingly, a nice woman from PM emailed me and stated that yes, their policy is to deal only with dealers/first owners but that because of the nature of my issue, they would take a look at the rotors. SO- just gotta find time/place to take my front end apart and send em to Cali!

PM is generally regarded as a top flight manufacturer. Personally, I have two sets of grips, brakes and wheels and except for some pitting of the chrome on the rear wheel hub (over 10 years old) all the parts work and look as good today as when I bought them.

We sell tons of PM stuff and 99% of the time everything is perfect. But there is alwyas that rare instance where something is not right. The good thing is that they alwyas take care of it. In the motorcycle industry that is a pretty good record as anyone who works in the industry can tell you.

I have the same grips on my Dyna and the only issue I have had is that the rubber is wearing out from a lot of use. New rubber is available for very inexpensive.

I also have their air cleaners on both of my bikes and they have been trouble free forever. It is standard procedure in the industry for a part hat is "bad" to be sent in for inspection with most companies as it is with PM. My dyna sits in the sun all day 5 days a week at work and not one issue.

Pm has been in business for over 30 years which in this industry is unheard of. Worry not.

I want to be clear that I love my PM Paramount rims....finish is top notch. My issue was with them not backing the installation I paid for also.....and then the run around I felt I was getting from them. Good luck on sending the rotors to them for inspection. I will stay posted for the results and how long it takes you to get resolution....my vibration didn't show up at first also. Keep us posted.

Why would you rent a set of grips? Your other set out for service.

Leasing is not a bad idea either, you get the routine service included.

So I wonder what the chances of getting a second bad set would be. Well I just found out. Just installed my replacement set. I was holding on to the throttle grip as I guided it down off the jack and it came right off. Not getting a warm/fuzzy about PM right now.
