First the bolts vibrated loose and fell off. Engineers found out about loctite. Each assembler gets a quart tube. Now the bolts don't get lost and are a little harder to get out. The easy out people are happy, the dealers are happy, ( no one else can get them apart )and it is easier for the salesperson to justify the first $350. oil change.
I was all reved up about buying a new electraglide. Thinking it over I'm going to look at the rest of the field taking into account quality and engineering. The first person that mentions MSRP, no deviations, will not be getting my green.

If they are using red loctite - you must use some heat to break the fastener free - a small propane torch works well.

I went ahead & installed an HB-125 & a VPC while I had the cover off.

VicW.
What are these?
The HB-125 is an 'auto-tensioner' for the primary chain & the VPC = Variable Pressure Clutch. - Good stuff! soos, I PM'ed you w/more info.

i usually fill mine through the chain adjuster cover, save on a gasket also, and you need to check chain anyway

What you need to use to break them loose is an impact driver. I learned this 25 years ago. For those who do not know what this is, it's a driver with a 3/8 drive square to put you driver bit on. Fit it to the fastener and hit it with a hammer. Breaks them loose every time.
Just what I was thinking!

If you can find any, try 'Drip L Do'. I think its made by Castrol. Truly, 1 drop is enough. When you take things apart after you put a drop on you'll find that it runs up the threads all the way, or through corrosion. Unreal. Aerokroil, or Kroil as we call it is maybe the nest best. Then PB Blaster. Last but not least, heat, made by torch.

Hey Ted,
how does the propane torch work out on the chrome?
I've used that method just about everywhere else. just not on chrome
