RE: Well my 80 dollar oil change....
I had damn near the same thing happen the 1st time I tried taking the derby cover off too, 'cept after the 1st bolt wallowed out I decided to take the outer primary cover offto finish the job. Sprayed the bolts down w/Aerokroil & let em sit overnite. I had to drill/EZ-out the wallowed one, but the rest of em came on out ok. (That Aerokroil is some GOOD stuff!) I went ahead & installed an HB-125 & a VPC while I had the cover off.

I have tangled with a few fasteners on my 2006 FXDI 35. My god are they tight. The Moco finally figured out how to keep there bikes from falling apart. They discovered Loctight. They use gobs of it. If a fastener is torqued correctly a half of drip is plenty. No they douse the whole freakin bolt then tighten the snot out of them.
Maybe while they are on strike the company should send them to school to learn how to properly tighten bolts. The one good thing is, they won't come loose and fall out like they used to.

What you need to use to break them loose is an impact driver. I learned this 25 years ago. For those who do not know what this is, it's a driver with a 3/8 drive square to put you driver bit on. Fit it to the fastener and hit it with a hammer. Breaks them loose every time.
