..from Wikipedia... "The FLHT was introduced in 1983. This was an Electra Glide based on the FLT Tour Glide frame, but using the Electra Glide "batwing" fairing instead of the Tour Glide frame-mounted fairing." "Except for the base FLH, all 1984 FLs were equipped with the new rubber-mounted Evolution engine and a five-speed transmission."

looks like most Shovelhead engine parts will be interchangeable... you should hang out a lot in the Shovelhead forum..you'll get lots of good tips...welcome! and good luck.

Welcome Kelly, from the UK. I hired an FLT like yours back in 1985 in Florida, the year the Evo was introduced and test rode an FLH at Daytona, so your bike brings back fond memories. As Joe suggests you should take a look over in the shovel section, but I can imagine you will get plenty of help, if you need it, from both them and us here.

you can use the late 5 speed flt and i think fxr evo stuff but you have to change the innner and outer primarys and Acc as the early are the tapered shaft and the latter use the spine shaft , ive seen this done much smoother and easier
