Default For those interested in Magnum cables

Hopefully some folks will find this helpful. I searched to see if anyone had already posted something similar but didn't find anything so i hope this isn't redundant or old news to everyone. I have a RKC and just as everyone else, i desperately need to change the bars out. While doing all my research on the forums, i learned that i will need new clutch and upper brake line cables to make things work. Since i am doing this, i thought it might be a good idea to change everything out to braided while i have everything apart and since i have ABS, it is only one trip to HD service to bleed and digi-tech if i can't get them bled correctly on my own.

Anyway...i was having a hard time figuring out what i wanted from a looks perspective. I tried looking at all the pics in the handlebar threads but just couldn't get a good enough view to see if i wanted polished stainless, black pearl or the chromite II finish.

I ended up calling Magnum to talk with them about it and they offered to send my some samples of each so i could see which one i liked best. I don't think there are too many instances any more where consumers are happy with a buying experience or happy with customer service but i thought this was a pretty cool thing they did for me.

Hopefully this information might help someone else who is getting ready to do some winter work with their bars or cables if they are also having a hard time figuring out which finish to go with.

Have a great Christmas, everyone and here's to some warm weather soon so we can all get back out on the road.

Thanks,

Scott

Did not know they would do that (send out samples) but for the price I guess they can afford to. All my cables are the Magnum Shielding Chromite II and I guess I have about $600.00 invested. Beats any other cables I have tried and remain looking after a couple years compared to others I have had.

I had a great experience with them as well. They know their products well and know what works on the bikes and do what they can to help. I recommend them 100%.

Same here.....just completed my 12' apes install and used all their stuff. Called them first to ask a few questions and she offered to send me samples as well.

LOVE the look of the Chromite II and the cable/brake line quality. Great company to deal with!

Just ordered a Black Pearl clutch cable yesterday. Wanted to stay more similar to stock colors as I was not changing everything out. also bike is black so it will match great. I found their web site to be one of the easier to find what I needed. Prices are a bit higher than stock but not as bad as HD cables.

I went with Magnum black pearl several years ago when I installed my apes. I have been very satisfied with their product and service was good to.

Definately get the samples, 25% restocking fee if you dont like the the way they look, I like the stainless better than the chromite, unfortantely I didnt get the samples first.

I have the Magnum Shielding Chromite II cables and like them. They were good to deal with and I found shipping was very fast. So far after a couple of years still np with them

I bought a Magnum black pearl and was not satisfied with it. The outside clear coating is very delicate and cut easily when I fed it into the fairing. The adjuster was backwards front the stock cable and came apart when I tried backing it off. Threw it away and ordered one from Barnett.
