red shift 575 cams
#2
Quick post here? I'm looking into these also...here's a post I found.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...hundermax.html
I want to bump things up also...but at the same time not open another engine mod can of worms.
---------------------------- Updated below:---------------------------------
Seems as though even they 'Zippers' say they 'Recommend" changing or upgrading push rods...stiffer, lifters, cam chest tensioners even for the basic 525 cams? I'm corned fused but that's normal.
I also found this to add to the edit of this post...http://www.zippersperformance.com/red-shift-525-cams.html

I had these cams in my 07 FLSTF, when I had a 103 build done on it.
I had 9.8:1 comp ( needed comp releases but did not do it ).
The gearing in 07 was taller I think than what FLH bikes have presently, I found I was shifting
More than the guys I rode with, they have fLH's.
The cam seemed to be more of a mid range cam. I did not think my tune was spot on, but mid and upper rpm, it did pretty well. Made 91 hp and 100 torque.
Redshift did just come out with a 525 cam, which looks pretty good and is designed for touring bikes and torque, much like the TW 222 cam.

I run them in my 106" and do get some pinging pretty easy and it for dang sure needs compression releases in the 106". It does run like hell though. Not sure of power level but it will run off from a stock 103 that's for sure. I haven't ever rode a stock 96 or 103 so I can not say how they do when riding 2up but I did find running from 2800 up is where my bike seems to do best when riding 2 up. Much below that and it doesn't want to pull well and starts pinging if I give it much throttle. It also pulls like hell all the way to the rev limiter at 6200.

Better options out there for a stock 103 without head work. For example, Wood 222 cams. The 575's need head work and higher compression.

Zippers does indeed recommend their 575's for a stock engine. That was due to lift clearances when they were first issued in 2008. You'll still have a turd without head word and higher compression running those cams. I would look to Wood Cams for better performance based on application.

I was just talking to the guys at MGS about a good cam to pair with their true duals and they recommended the RS575. Here's the quote, "Redshift 575 cams. No question. Awesome power curve. Stump puller." This was for stock heads in a 103 Streetglide, looking for strong 2500 to 4500 street performance. Why would they be recommending a turd?

I would say TW 222 for touring bikes without the need for head work, see Fuelmoto web site for the
Dyno sheets on that cam in a 103.
