One more stupid question (for today anyway)

alot of guys try this on the way to a performance pipe.
there is alot of science applied to pipes, for instance:
if a pipe suddenly gets wider, gasses slow and the low pressure zone behind the pulses may be lost...gasses may even eddy and reverse direction, causing a net loss in power.
also attacking the mufflers with a drill or cutter while still mounted can crack the header pipe
so there are downsides.
complicating this is the 2010+ bikes have a catalytic convertor in the header which dampens sound and flow.
there are all kinds of options from blowing $1000 on a new system installed for you, to just a few hundred bucks to modify your header and add carefully selected performance mufflers.
pipe design incorporates length, diameter, crossover and other flow characteristics to enhance power- chances are changing these parameters at random will cause a negative result

Removing the baffles will make it sound horrible. A better, cheap improvement would be cutting out your cat which also will cool your bike down. Then, if you decide to go with another pipe later, you can get by with slip ons for less $$$ too.
