We also get paid for everthing including sleeping on our 10 hr break.I only work 14,15 daysa month and makemore thanmost drivers make that run 5or moredays every week. You obviously don't know about the benefits and pensions of a good paying union contract . I can tell you horror stories of non-union companies. As a Teamster truck driver with the union behind me 99% of us follow the rules of the road and safety and hour of service rules. How does that affect you and your family ? Most if not all non-union companies will encourage fixing your log book to drive longer than you should legally . This is a common practice , also the safety of the trucks and equipment they drive is not up to safe standards and over weight . Remember that next time you are driving next to a 18 wheeler on your bike , is this guy tired ? should he be on the road ? is his truck and trailer been pre-pripped properly ? Having a union behind me I can refuse ANY unsafe piece of equipment and deadline it for repairs not because I am lazy , because of the safety of me and the people on the road. Many non-union companies will tell the drivers to take it or your fired. As far as union guy being lazy , not in my trade , you are paid by the mile , and most men work six days a week , sometimes up to 12 hours a day. If that is lazy I would love to see what you do at work. Another common practice for the non-union companies is to not pay there drivers for down time waiting for loads or not paying the right mileage , I could go on and on. Just a few examples of why unions have their place.

On second thought.... if any one person here is against unions in general please do the following:
Do not attend or watch any Pro Athletic/Sport events (ie; basketball, baseball, football (e.g. Superbowl), hockey etc..
all those people belong in a union. Remember unions are bad...bad people and UNEDUCATED people belong to unions.
Disregard any and all posted speed limits, street signs, traffic siganls etc.... Those cops pay monthly union dues.
Fly across the country in a Piper airplane flown by Billy Bob who has failed to take any FAA courses and/or testing. Those commercial airline pilots don't know what they are doing. That don't even realize that they are paying union dues twice a month out of their overinflated paychecks. Who do they really think they are right?
Drive on dirt roads only. Don't drive on paved roads that are paved and maintained by unionized local and state workers. The audacity of them to expect a decent wage so you and I can drive on roads and highways at posted speed limits in the conforts of our unionized made autos with the stereo blasting, A/C on while looking at our foreign made GPS units.
Home school your kids or grandkids because those daM educators don't know jack **** - remember they must be idiots... they are in a union.
Don't go to your local community college or gOd forbid state college because people teaching those classes are union people. Stay home, take the "Sally Struthers - I can earn a PhD by watching a video course and taking a test" instructional video because those people with masters, specialist degrees, and PhD's don't know what there are doing!
Next time your house is burning grab a garden hose and tell the Fire Dept you can handle it. Their formal education, training and union paying asses can't do the kind of job you can do when it comes to saving your families life or saving your home.
Drive a Kia, Suzucki,or ride a horse instead of buying an American made car because the ergonomics are better, the ride is smoother, QC is far better than some union paying moron can control. Plus, feed the 3rd world country people instead of your neighbor because people like you buying foreign cars cause guys like the neighbor down the street to lose his or her job.
Walk right through the metal detector at the airport and tell the guy or gal who is chasing you down with the TSA, FBI, NHSTA jackets to call 1-800- eat **** because you don't believe in union jobs. By the way, your luggage is waiting for you in baggage claim because the union employed baggage handler made sure your luggagearrived when you did. Safe and sound like you!
Save your non-union bonuses and your american made dollars andwalk your a$$ over to one of those 3rd world countries and take a look around andmaybe you'll appreciate what you have and WHAT the unions HAVE and ARE doing for you/I and our families in this country.
...just my $0.03

RE: York Plant Strike
Let me see if I've got this figured out. If I'm a member of a Union, then I'm an uneducated lazy SOB that wants a decent wage, good benefits, a liveable retirement and good working conditions, but not have to work for it. If I'm not in a Union, then I'm a hard working, highly educated personwho believesthat anyone working in a Union blue collar job(where all the stupid, lazy people are)should only make minimun wage, have no benefits or retirement and should just be thankful that such an ignorant, lazy person as themselves even have a job. Damn,I wish someone had told me this 25 years ago. I would have never joined a Union and maybe I wouldn't be so dumb and lazy. I would have love to have been agenius with such outstanding work ethics like allof you.
