Default Apes install, wiring connector questions.

O.K. I have everything torn down, and I hold my switches and TBW in my hand. I have a new TBI and my apes are 12 1/2 so the wires will reach.

My questions are as follows.
1) How do I remove the wires on the TBW from the green plug so I can install the new wires once I get the wires ran through the bars?

2) How do I remove the switch housing wires from the plugs? How do I reinstall them?

3) which 2 wires do I have to switch to keep my passing lamps on when I have the switch on either High or low beam?

1) You shouldn't have to remove the wires from the green TBW plug.....
Disconnect the green plug from the throttle by wire assembly itself. You should be able to feed that green plug up from the center of your bars all the way out to the right side grip. Then just plug it back in, and pull out the slack. OR, cut the plug off, and just hard solder those suckers. That is what I did today :-)

2) Do some google/youtube searches on "Harley Molex connector" and you should find plenty of pictures, videos, and diagrams on those.

3) No idea :-)

Thanx C.H.L. I got the Molex Connectors disassembled, and I figured out what Im needing to do with the new TBW.

So, while disassembling One of the connectors I broke one of the internal catch tabs. Does anyone have an Idea for that? I do have 3 MT spots on that connector. Is my best bet going to be to relocate that wire to one of the MT spots?

I found the thread that talks about the passing lamps.

What is an "MT Spot" ???

If you are saying what I'm thinking you are saying - you broke one wire going into the plug, I would just hard solder that one wire - or use a butt connector on it. The ONLY time you disconnect those things are when you are changing handle bars, so it's not a big deal if you gotta do some extra work to disconnect them.

MT means empty.
I am installing new bars.
I didnt break a wire. I broke one of the tabs that keeps the wire in place inside one of the connectors.

go to the dealer and explain your situation.... i bet they have some of those metal ends in the shop..if not they can get them
I damaged a couple of mine when pulling my wires and had to repace them... just a matter of cutting off the old and placing a new one on the end of the wire..
a i'm sure you know if those things aren't in perfect condition they won't catch right inide the molex connectors....
good luck....

You can get a new plastic connector shell. I believe it is under $5.00

That sounds like the best bet.

What bike do have and what bars are you using? I have a 2008 FLHRC and I am thinking about Wild One502. I know I have to change brake and clutch but I was wondering if I need to extend wires after reading this post.
