I cannot decide on what sizeapes to buy for my 2004 RK Classic. 12.5, 16 Wild 1's or 14" Cyclesmiths.

I would like the handle bars to sit slightly forward.

I am 5'8" tall. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Has anyone had the 12.5" apes and later went bigger?

 

i have 16 inchers on mine and i love it not too tall and not too low

 

You might want to take into account the laws of your state and the others states you frequently ride in. California law is:http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/l...t.asp?state=ca

You can search other states on that site as well. Personally I think the 16's look killer. I was going to put them on my RKC, but they would put my hands just slightly above shoulder height. I thought OR law was no hands no higher than the shoulders, but the link above states No Restrictions for OR. Not sure how accurate the info on the link is now. I didn't think the look was worth the risk of getting hassled. I put on Chubby RKII bars. Just as comfortable to me and no reason for the police to pull me over.

Just to give you a comparison, I have Wild 1 18's on my RK. I'm 6'2" and they are right at level with my shoulders. Extremely comfy for me!!

 

I am 5'9" and have 16" apes that are pushed slightly forward. They are great for me. I used to have 12.5"ers and they werent tall enuff for my tastes. I have the wildones as well. See my sig pic...

 

16" baby.....if you are going go tall, go tall

 

Oh yeah, I'm sure you are probably aware that here in CA you can apes that are 6 inches taller than your shoulders as well thanks to Ahhnold...

 

12.5 easier on your shoulders!!

 

Go all out with the 16s, JUST as long as it is not a ROAD GLIDE, damn what are people thinking when the put APES on the RG?!!!?

 

I am 5'9". I went with the 12.5 wildones. I love them. My arms are justbelow shoulder level when riding. I would say that for me, the 16s would be just too high for longer rides
