Lifters
Hi guys. Been on this forum since last July, and even with nearly 40 years in the saddleI'velearned alot. While I've always been proud to ride a stock Geezer Glide, the time came for a look see at the cam chain tensioners. With 35K on my 2000 Ultra, you can guess what they looked like. I'm having a reputable Indy (Devil Dawg Custom Cycles, Chantilly VA) do an Andrews 26g gear driven cam upgrade, based on all the knowledge I've learned on this forum. Well got a call today that my lifters are in bad shape, no surprise there. Does it make any sense going to anything other than the stock HD lifters considering the engineis stock except for the SE Air Clearner? We're not pulling the rockers so the springs willstay the same. And my disclaimer, I did search on this and found tons on gear driven cams, as you all know, but very little on lifters. Appreciate any help, since I need to make my decisiion by tomorrow. Thanks.

RE: Lifters
Your bike came with the old style "A" lifters. The new style "B" lifters are better. (BTW, the A and B have nothing to do with the engine like the Twin Cam A or B. The letter just denotes an upgraded lifter). You can get the new B lifters for about 25 bucks each from a dealer and be safe.
I put Crane 10530 lifters in my 2000 Twin Cam when I did my 26G upgrade. The 10530 lifters are for a small block Chevy. They are the exact lifter that Crane sells for Harleys. The part number difference is the only difference. I ended up buying 16 lifters from Summit for 199 bucks and selling the other 12 to others that needed them for builds, so I had about 50 bucks in my set.
Here is a pic of the visual differences between the HD "A" and "B" lifters and a pic of a Crane 10530 that I disassembled.
