Default Drive belt contacting tire?

So I have noticed that my drive belt contacts my back tire. I was on a pretty curvy road had some dips in it. Every time I hit a dip and my back struts compress I could hear my belt rub on the tire. Anyone know why this would happen? It only happens when the strut compresses quit a bit.

Sounds like something must be bent or wore out. Nothing new? Like a wider tire? Check your axle nut make sure its not loose and let the tire get out of alignment.

Stock size tire. Everything is tight. I just had to have me belt replace a few months ago because it broke though.

Check your pivot blocks, particular left side that had to be removed to change the belt, if they came loose the swingarm can flex out of alignment enough for the belt to rub. Worn front motormount and rear rubber isolators could be contributing also.

All is not well back there! Either your wheel is out of alignment, or the vehicle alignment is out. If a dealer or indy did the belt replacement I would call by and get them to check and correct things. I have run wider than stock tyres for many years, but never suffered rubbing, as I get all my clearances just right!

+1 on taking it back to the shop. Check to see if one of the spacers are missing. Another possibility is that the swing arm could be broken. They beefed up the swing arm in 02, but you may have an early model. Look where the axel goes through the swing arm.

You also have the old style cleve block bushings in the swingarm, notorious for wearing slap out.

Check to make sure its not just the Belt Guard thats rubbing, I had to trim mine on my 06 after going to a 150 tire. Maybe whoever installed the belt missed a bolt in the guard, causing it to rub on the tire.

I had my local HD stealer throw my chrome rear wheel on with a 150 Metz, told 2 guys there theyd probably have to trim the guard. Bring the bike home, and the f*cking guard was rubbing.....dummies
