Default Replacement for usless air temp gauge.

Anybody got a idea on what to put there, I had a oil temp gauge from h/d on my 05 and it was equally inaccurate. Awhile back I seen a radar detector but it isn't available anymore, is there anything that I can put in that spot that's useful or even entraining?

I have a powered adjustable air ride suspension and installed a VIAIR air pressure gauge in place of that useless air temp. It's entertaining seeing how the needle bounces around on bumpy roads...

Why does every thread that makes any reference to the air temp gauge always preface it with "useless".

I kinda like the gauge myself.

So do I. When I go out to ride on an early morning, what that gauge says has a lot to do with what I put on.

Ride for an early morning ride, go have breakfast and see what the gauge reads when you come out. There's no external sensor, so the heat that rises from the engine into the fairing causes incorrect readings... Usually it will give an accurate reading when you first start it, but not while you're riding.

In comparison, my F150 is extremely accurate, thanks to its external sensor.

The reading you get after stopping is accurate. It the heat from sitting. After you move down the road for 5-10 minutes it stabilizes and then is very close to being accurate. The temp gauge in both my F-150 (09 & 11) are off after sitting in the sun until you move and get the ambient temp.

Mine isn't close to what the real temp is, yesterday morning I went out it was 31 degrees, my air temp said 50.

I agree it is useless information. When I watch the weather I view it as an opinion. I dress mostly according to the weather and not the temp on my bike. It should be an oil pressure, air suspension gauge or something you NEED to monitor. When I step out side I already know if it is cold or warm, dont need to look at my bike to figure that out.

I'm thinking a mirror... If you look in it and see a lot of sweat you will know its hot, if you see a guy with blue lips you will know it is cold, if you see a guy with blue lips and a lot of sweat you will know it is really hot. Obviously you had just finished a Slurpee from 7-11 to cool off...
