Default Lower FLHR an inch or not?

Saved enough for front and rear suspension this winter (Ohlins and monotubes). Can't decide whether to lower her an inch (flat footing, but only with my Chipewwas on. So, I could easily leave it stock height, but also think i wold like being a 1/2 inch lower in the saddle. I am concerned that lowering will compromise handling.

1st HD, 2 years this Halloween--17k. Still learning to ride. Not super aggressive yet (the 107 kit is sort of changing that). Anyway, will I really feel a differnce in the ride if I take taking Grace down a notch?

Sorry about all this newbie should i lower my bike or not sh#t.

If you lower it an inch it will not compromise handleing.Mine is almost 2" lower than yours and I hit my exhaust a lil bit, but my muffler is 4.5" round and I ride very agressive.

thanks buggy. I did the BR Prkwy and scarped my boards a few times but only by accident. I am only going to lower one inch...and am wondering whether it makes a differnce in feel and handling? Road King owners stock or lower one inch?

If you can avoid it I would. My Road King is lowered and I am constantly scraping. Riding the BRP is one thing but the twisties off of it are far superior rides as far as sweet twisties.

I lowered the rear shocks 1" and can't tell one bit of difference in the handling. I wouldn't hesitate, at all, and it gives the bike a better stance. 6'2" tall here with plenty of footing...I never scrape

Hey Ben E,
I have been procrastinating doing this for a while now. I think I have decided that untill I can aford an air ride or the like I will not lower it. I can't flatfoot it either, I weigh about 180 and I never scrape, or bottom out over speed bumps, but I still hesitate lowering. So far I am happy with the ride, but I sure would like to flatfoot it also.

Thanks JBrews. yeah, it's all good with my boots on. If lowering only an inch makes minimum differnce, i'll probably go for it. Price on the monos is just a little more.

Hoping others will let me know if there were any regrets in bringing it down.

I lowered my King 1" in back and just over a inch on the front, feels like it handles better to me.
My boards do scrape but only on very sharp turns.

My bike was lowered when I bought it. I didn't know it, but the ride was harsh and I was dragging the floorboard brackets (not good) and the kick stand. I have since raised it back to stock height and it rides sooo much better. The way I ride, I would install a lift kit If I could. Lean angle is important. The higher you get those boards the more you can lean before **** starts to drag. I think you would regret it, but to each his own...

Another issue is the wiring in the back fender
