I know a lot of folks who make 40K or less and had no insurance and were given 31K checks on the spot. So far, not a nickel. Took an 80K pension loan out to start home repairs. As far as moving things to high ground, sure normally I do that, but this year I was in bed all doped up becuase I did not know I had a ruptured appendix.
Sorry for all your heart ache buddy. I worked down there bringing in cars and truck to people from all over the country(cleveland to bangor) because they were afraid of stuff to replace there cars trucks with.
So near the end i spent a bunch of time hauling stuff out of the insurance yards in brookhaven and the airport(calverton).
Damn old 98 FLHTCUI caught my eye so i bid and dragged it home. It had the dreaded "flood" blue tape on headlite from dealer.
Basically tore it apart as i would any older bike and just cleaned and put it back together. It fired on the first touch of the button. for less than 3 grand i have a wonderful bike that i tore the wiring harness completely apart and fixed all the harley screw ups and soldered and heat shrink every thing. Its now better than the day it came from the factory.
B ikes are very easy to do. I how ever would not do a newer car truck or boat. Well maybe a boat like a center consul.
With all the new chemicals that the average Joe has not seen yet its not all that hard to do. Hell couple of 1 mill plus firetrucks been done up here.
Tons of HD salvage in the lots but they are getting pretty old now. Been sitting on a runway for a lot of months .
Good Luck to you and your family.....your Bike will be just fine.
