Gas stops on 287, garden state, NJTP
Just got laid off so I figured, what the hell, I'll go visit my daughter in Pensacola, FL. Did I mention I live in Rhode Island? Anyway I was wondering what the gas availability is on 287, Garden State and the Turnpike due to the storm? I don't want to be spending hours in line waiting for gas. Any info would be great.

Think about taking I81 south, rather than the i95 corridor.
Once you hit NY on i95, cross GWB to NJ and take I78 west to past harrisburg, then pick up I81S you can see on the map, knoxville, chattanooga, birmingham, montgomery etc, and you come into pensacola on i65
keeps you away from much of the turmoil- and there is another storm headed into coastal areas

FL Warmth
As stated, beware of our NJ odd/even gas days (last number digit on plate). Vanity plates (all letters) are considered odd. Fuel is getting to be a hit or miss thing around here. (central NJ) Everyone has a full tank, a few full 5 gallon containers and no place to put more gas into, so the lines have subsided. The majority of the gas shortage was self inflicted. There was plenty of warning to be prepared!
Anyhow, I don't see a problem passing thru NJ and tanking up while here. As of today there were no more lines and no wait at the pumps. (Middlesex and Union counties) Enjoy the FL warmth!!!
