Default Air Pressure in Shocks???

I have been trying to purchase an inexpensive air pump to regulate the pressure in my shocks. The Harley pump is $39.95 and has a 0-60psi measurement. I have seen others that are less money, but only have a 0-30 psi gauge. I looked in my manual, but could find no recommended air adjustments. I have never adjusted mine and never checked to see how much air I'm running. How much air is needed for average two-up running? Do I need to adjust for a trip where I'm carrying extra weight. How often are you guy's adjusting air pressure? Do I need a pump? Any recommendations?

i haven't bought a pump yet either. i just regulate my compressor down to about 15 psi. i did buy a low pressure tire guage though. it also works for my quad tires which are low pressure too. i think mine is set around 12 psi. it says the recommended pressure somewhere in the manual. bountyhunter is right, i think it calls for around 9 to 15 psi depending on your weight, 2 up, etc.

I usethe finger air pump from my buschtec trailer...dosen't really matter.... If you ride 2 up and average together about 300lbs, 20-25lbs should be enough. Try that pressure and adjust if needed. Whatever you do DON'T use air from a service station;it's too much pressure coming from it and it will damage the shocks seals. Hope that helps in your decision.

I agree with Bountyhunter. Buy the HD pump. I run mine at 26 two and 30 loaded. It makes a difference in the ride and handling with a load.

Thanks, I must be a little dyslexic. I looked earlier and couldn't find any reference in the index. Sounds like I need a pump or a diet. My once high school trim and fit 160lb body has deserted me and left a 200lb beast.
