Default Heated Gear/ Battery Tender

Can you run your heated gear off the pigtail for the battery tender? I know you will need a SAE/coaxial adapter. My concern is if the fuse for the tender is big enough for the heated gear? I have seen mixed reviews on this, so for the ones with the tender and heated gear how did you end up powering both?

Thanks

From the Gerbing's Website:
Q: My bike already has a pigtail for my battery charger/maintainer. Can I use that to power Gerbing's Heated Clothing?

A: Unfortunately, no. We understand the desire not to have any more pigtail leads poking out from under the seat than is absolutely necessary. But depending on the device, some of these battery charger leads are only capable of handling the 1-to-2 amps that such chargers deliver. Using them to power from 4 to 15 amps of heated gear can blow the fuse and, even with the proper fuse in place, can overload the capacity of these same wire leads.

I have separate leads for each.

The only thing you may have to do is put a larger (10-15) amp fuse in the line depending on how much gear you're trying to power. There are pigtail-coaxial connectors available so that's not a problem either. In otherwords, you can run all your heated gear off the battery tender pig tail.

Upgrade the wire gauge of the pig tail for the tender, put in a larger fuse to accomodate the heated gear and, and this is important, install a flying fuse holder with the correct fuse in the lead coming from the tender. This way you have the correct wire gauge and fuse for your gear and with the flying fuse you still protect the tender.
If you are clever you put the SAE plug on the pig tail and the adaptor on the tender cable to keep the bike looking "clean"
