Default What size windshield for RoadGlide?

What size windshield should a 6'1" rider use to be comfortable on a new RoadGlide? I'd like to keep sunglasses from bouncing on my nose and possibly wear a ballcap. Different styles other than than the stocker help at all?

Google Madstad.

Get used to the looks of it... or spend big bux tryin' different shields.

WindVest is very popular with the Roadie crowd. You would need about a 15 or 16 inch high to see over the top. Another new shield is the one from Long Ride Shields called a MAKO. It stands more upright, so a 14 inch may work for you. I have the Madstad 16 inch, it’s a great shield and minimal buffeting, but I can’t stand the looks of it. Some love it, most hate it!! Lots of choices out their good luck.

+1 on the Madstaad suggestion.

IMO they are the best working wind shields available. Not only do they minimize turbulence, but they also make your stereo sound noticibly louder and in my casse made Momma happy!

Madstaad's 100% love it or send it back warranty doesn't hurt either!

This is kind of like asking "What is the best oil". You will get hundreds of opinions, and most will be different. There will never be a logical consensus so you will end up doing your homework and deciding what is best for you. In other words there are lots of variables.

Let me know if you are considering a Mako. I have a 14" for sale because it was way too tall for me. Nice shield, but I didn't want to look through it. Only 5'8. PM me. I've ordered a Windvest and trying that one now. They are all pretty good, it's just about dialing in what works for you (on my 2nd shield now) trying to find that sweet spot. Madstad has great reviews with the Roadies, but I just can't get past the look of it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from what I've read, but it's not sexy to me.

Default No good answer!

I am 5'10" and had an '07 RG. Spent 3 years and hundreds of dollars chasing that elusive buffet free (or at least acceptable) windshield. I tried stock, Klockworks, Long Ride, different heights, recurves. About the only thing that really worked was so high I looked throught it rather than over it, which I hated. Also, looked like I had a picture window attached to front of my bike. Bottom line is you have to experiment ($$$$$$$$) to find what works best for you. Good luck!

Opinions vary. That said, it's about wind management. You didn't mention which RG. If you add/have lowers and the little plastic deflectors on the crash bar. Most of the buffeting is solved. I use an old Harley 3" taller windshield. It works great in concert with the other items. Summertime the lowers come off and I still have good wind management. I've bought and sold several other shields. I still have the original shield but very rarely use it. Has a 12" Klockwerks. Loved the look, hated the ride. Used the 4" black windscreen for a little while. It really looked sharp, but you need a full face helmet. Good luck with the bike.

Let us know if we can help you out with our new Mako. It is a great shield, and introduced at $99. To be more accurate, you should get your measurement from your radio housing, up to where you need it, which should be about mouth level. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
