Default Best Compensator replacement for 2000 UC

Hi guys, just looking for some opinions on compensator replacement for my 2000 Ultra classic. Will the SE comp. that everybody talks about on here work on my bike being it is older?

Did you wear it out or is it just loose. Just wondering.

Your bike is a TC88, but the compensator you see talked about is on the TC96. Harley changed the design and the new one has had problems. Yours is fine and trouble free, and only needs replacement, with a stock item, if worn. That will only happen with a high mileage.

I agree with with grbrown, I had a 2000 classic sold it to a buddy a few years ago, it now has over 60K on it with no issues. How many miles on your bike?

My bike has 65,000 miles on it but it has gotten real jerky on and off the throttle so I am assuming its the compensator. I just replaced the belt so I know it is tight and the primary chain has been adjusted.

On my bike it was making a lot of racket at idle and when taking off from a dead start. On my bike only the nut had loosed up a bit, and just needed to be tightened back to factory specs and that solved the problem.
