Default Cannot get the heat shields installed. HELP

I purchased a set of Bassani True dual power curve headers and cans. I installed everything but the heat short heat shield of from the back pipe does not want to cooperate. It slides off on installation. Has any one else had this problem?

Yes I used all supplied hardware. The small heat shield between the rear port and the muffler slides off when I tighten the clamp. Very annoying. The pipes are great though and theyu sound magnificent.

The hose clamp has probably a slot missing or the end of the clamp is hitting something inside the cover

The clamp goes inside the bracket and around the pipe on the last pic in your post

Measure the diameter of the hose clamp all the way closed, it should be less than 1 7/8". If not buy a smaller one.

Everything is correct. I believe it has a manufacturer flaw. The clamp is the right size and I am installing it correctly. I believe the clamp was welded in the shield in the wrong angle. That the reason for it to slide off when tightened.

Lightbulb My .02 cents worth!

First, the last picture you posted shows the inside of this small heat shield, there is an "H" shaped bracket welded on the inside/underside of the heat shield. The stainless steel hose clamp that holds this onto the pipe should go between the bar connecting the two uprights of the "H" and the heat shield. You have to unscrew the stainless steel hose clamp so it opens up and you can insert the one end through this opening.

Secondly, it looks like, based on picture one and two, this short heat shield may fit under the two heat shields on either side of the motorcycle in question.
I could be wrong though.

Good luck!

GSF
