Default CVO SG to CVO RG Conversion - with pics

I know we've seen other threads on this forum regarding the conversion of a SG to a RG. My project is still ongoing, but I'd like to share my progress as it develops. I have a build thread running on the RoadGlide.org forum - but I've had some interest here, so I thought I share with the rest of the touring family.

Feel free to fire away with questions/comments. For those looking for a parts list, I put together a comprehensive list using the parts book for a 2012 FLTRXSE. I also checked it against the list that others have used here as well.

Since the CVO SG has some different options like ABS, there are some subtle differences. In 2010, the fairing bracket changed as well to accommodate the same lower fairings on all touring bikes.

Enough of the babbling...here are some pictures!

The parts started to pile up pretty fast; even more showed up after this picture was taken:

Couple last pictures of the CVO SG:

Getting into the guts:

Prepped for brake line removal and replacement of the FLTR ABS lower line. Plastic wrap for everything...I hate DOT4.

And a little teaser of the HD Road Glide LED lights...

The other bike is a SG, and it's not being converted. The owner is a good friend who is buying some of my take-offs (bars, mirrors, brake lines, etc).

But yes, I am doing the work on both of them! We're just waiting for his inner fairing to get back from the painter.

Wow, what an undertaking. Hope everything works out for you. If it were me and wanted a Road Glide, I'd be heading for the dealer (and not for parts:+).

Good Luck.

Very cool. I wish I had the time patience and the knowledge to do something like that! Not that I would change an SG to a RG....I just think it's very cool that you CAN do it. And also very cool that you take the time to shoot the pictures and build a thread describing it along the way! Can't wait to see the end result!

Can't wait to see this, I am wanting to do this as well if it isn't beyond my ability.
