make it easy on your self- put the switch on the ground wire- that way it'll go off whether in high or low beam
black is ground
yellow is low beam
white is high beam
crane cams used to have a wiring diagram on their website that used the starter circuit to de-energise a relay for the headlight.
it turned off the lights whenever the starter cranked.

ok..a little less voltage drop then.
if you understand the concept it is dead easy to wire up a relay to the starter circuit.
BTW my FXRP I usually start with the lights off.
it just makes sense.
and on the panhead always...6 volt system

I would like to do that also. Wiring is not my problem, it is locating the switch on an 08 Road King. Both factory switches are already in use and there seems to be no other convenient and unobtrusive location remaining. The relay is in intriguing idea but I don't know the designation for a normally On relay and how the current required to pull the relay OFF compares to the headlight being on. Or, are there tabs on any relay so it can be used either way?
