Default THinking about trading up, your thoughts??

Hello folks,

SO I have a 2003 XL1200C sporty down here in Torreon, Mexico. Ride it everywhere and knock on wood all has been safe. I was just looking throuhg the internet at road kings I have always liked them and to be honest, although I love the zip of my sportster, on the long dessert roads I think a road king would be a great bike to have. I found a 2004 smoky gold and black road king with 5,051 miles in it and they want 14,000 called the dealer and asked if he would take 4,000 for my sporty and I would finance the rest. He is a dealer and said yes, but now I am wondering should I do it? Sporty is paid for, still have some payments on my FLHTK, not that is a concern I can afford it, but I would have to get to where the bike is, also not a concern cause I love to ride?

Is this year a good year, why so few miles and is the price correct? Not sure what the payments would be but I have 1k in cash and 4,000 in trade which should bring the payments down. What would you do?

Seems a little high priced. I bought a 2002 for $8800. It is an Electra with 25000. I could see paying maybe 11000 for the RK. Seems better to me.

Seems high to me , I have a friend who bought a lightly used 2010 RK for just over $16,000. That said, a lot depends on supply and demand in the market where you are.

I will see what he says tomorrow. I'm going to ask if he will take the sporty 1k for 10500 if he says 11 or 12 I will do it.

I miss my sportster bad sometimes, but I get over it by climbing on a current bike ATM it's a Limited. Funny how sportsters keep ya thinking years later. Like a first girlfriend or something.

Good luck with your deal, hope ya get what ya want.

I agree, $14K for a 2004 is way to high. I paid that for my 2010 FLHP. And it is my peppy fun bike - that 103 really zooms!
