Default How simple is a LRS Windshield install?

New 7" LRS shield came today. Before I put it on, any tips or advice to share for the hopefully...."unscrew the three screws and insert shield and tighten back up."... installation

I have read where the middle screw should be removed first, the two screws on the inner fairing should be loosened and the screws should be torqued. I welcome any insight.

Make sure you take your watch off so you don't accidentally scratch your paint. Don't ask!! It's a 10 minute deal. You may have to loosen the bolts on the inside of the fairing just a little too. One on each side.

I simply removed three screws, removed old shield, put new shield in place, inserted screws. No torquing. I think I did loosen the 3 screws slightly before removing the first one entirely, but that is about it.

Hey, but I'm a woman, what the heck do I know about technical stuff?

Piece of cake! Doesn't really matter which of the three screws you remove first if you only remove the three top screws (not the side screws under your bars). There will be enough tension from the side screws to hold your windshield in place.

Gently pull out on the top of the outer fairing, pull the old windshield, toss in the new one, start all three screws, adjust screen to ensure it's level, tighten screws but do not overtighten, and ride. This should take about 2 minutes and is as easy as fueling up.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery first ;-)

It's pretty complicated if you over think it, otherwise it is pretty easy. It is only three screws and you won't find any three screws easier to get at.

On installation sometimes the new shield can get hung up on the inserts, don't force it,or you could end up scratching it when it slides down.I usually snug up the center screw first, and that settles everything in to place.

Do not use a torque wrench. Use a screwdriver with the torx bit on it. Very easy to over tighten and crack the windshield.

good advice. I will take the "10 minutes to do it" and "caveman" approach and put it on in the morning. Hoping that the 7" is the right height.
