404's are meant for a much lighter bike. You'd be lucky to get 4000 mi out of them.

I have 10,250 on my rear tire and hope it goes another 6k miles.

My 07 FLSTF rear tire got nabbed by irreparable puncture at 2.5k and was replace with OEM the replacement tire was looking 3/4 gone after 8k miles.

So, now what?!?!

It is a 2008 Ultra Classic. Let the debate begin. I would like to get a bigger tire.

Michelin? Dunlop? Perelli?

Thanks to all who reply.

Really liken my MCII's

No, not pissed at all.

Just wondering which tire(s) to get.

Thanks!

402 9000 and ride like truck tires,e3 14000 miles had tread left but cupped rode and handled great, metz ride and handling close to e3 3000 so far.prefer the e3 going back once the metz are done.size mu90 is about it,u can use a 160 but it is rated for a 3.5 inch wheel yours only 3 so your pulling in the sidewalls.

The stock Dunlop's on the 10 Ultra are about gone at just over 22,000 miles.

Have a new set in the garage from a 20% off sale the dealer had last Feb. on tires to put on this winter. Stayed with the Dunnies. Never had that many miles on a rear tire ever before.

Try a Dunlop Elite 3 MU90B-16 for the rear. I have 22k on my second E3, now at 1/32" tread depth and ready for replacement. The last one lasted 20k although I pulled it off a bit early, but I was only able to get 10k from each of two stock Dunlop D402 rears. Search here and you'll find plentiful feedback on the E3, almost all of it favorable. Don't be concerned that performance will suffer because it will not, as most find the E3 handles better than the stock tires in either wet or dry, and the "groove tracking" you feel with stock tires is reduced.

The MU90 is .06" wider and .01" taller than the stock MU85, which isn't much bigger. Some have installed the 160-80B-16 version which is designed for 3.5" rims (stock is 3.0") with no problems that I've heard about. I personally would stick with the MU90 since I've had such good luck with it.

Michelin has recently introduced the Commander II which reportedly has an extended lifespan like the E3, but I haven't heard any feedback from owners about its durability.

Damn I only got 10k out of my rear. At 12k consider yourself lucky.
