Default How can you tell which oil filter.

How can you physically tell if the Chrome Harley 5 micon oil filter is actually a the 5 micron Harley filter?

I purchased a Harley 5 micron superpremium5 oil filter for my 2012 SG but I am not sure that this is actually the 5 micron filter because when I purchased the filter at the Harley dealer some of the oil filters where out of their boxes. So I don't know for sure if the filter I purchased is the 5 micron filter as it may be one of the standard Harley filters.
So how can I tell by looking at the oil filter which one I have?
I don't see any part numbers on the filter but my filter was in the correct box and part # on the box is 63798-99A.
Just don't want to use the wrong filter on my bike.
There has to be a way to tell if the is a 5 micron filter.

If the filter was in the correct box, I don't see why you would doubt it to be that filter. Unless the dealer you bought it from has something to gain by swapping them out, and even if they did it would be unethical and unprofessional.

Well I am sure there are some specific markings on the filters to identify which type they are.
So if you don't have this info. why would you answer this thread?

I personally think you have too much time on your hands.

Pretty sure all Twin Cam filters are now 5 micron, don't think you can even get a 10 micron filter if you wanted one.

not any difference, its a # and rating game,a 10 micron filter will stop like 90%of 10 and like 85% 5,a 5 micron filter will stop like 85% of 5 micron particles, they just rate them differently to stop competitors, and void warranties for not using 5 micron filters that only harley rates that way.

1) Why would you purchase a filter that was out of its box?
2) Why would a dealer take filters out of the box?
3) Don't buy filters that are out of the box.

Typical smart A$$ remark from someone who no doubt doesn't have a clue.
All I am saying is that I am not sure if the filter I have is the correct filter that is called for my for my bike.
If some of you don't care about using the correct parts on your bikes then that is OK by me.
I was just asking for a bit of help here.
