Default Steerin Head Grease

I bought a used 2003 Road King Police. The manual says to pump grease into steering head fitting untl it oozes out the top and bottom. Dosent happen / a little grease goes in and then presure builds and backfires. Could it be that the someone has installed 'sealed neck bearings'? Perhaps even the factory. How can I find out w/o disassembling the entire front end?

It's possible that the grease fitting is bad ( frozen at the check valve ) This happens quite often in the automotive service ... Replace the grease fitting ... It would be worth a try.

My grease pump has a rigid pipe.,and you gotta push on it quite hard to get grease to go in the neck.

I replaced the grease fitting on mine to give it a better angle before the tube squirts all that gooey stuff into the hole.

The post above is 100% correct.

+1. Grease fittings are inexpensive and easy to replace. I suggest replacing it with a 90* fitting.

The Harley multi purpose grease the manual recommends. I'm sure there are cheaper options but its still less than $10
